Bio:
Dr. Proscovia Olango graduated with a PhD from University of Groningen in 2020 and is currently a full-time lecturer and head of department of computer science at Gulu University in Uganda. Her research interest is in improving reading comprehension through document enrichment. The four pillars that currently support this interest are Design Science, Big Data, Human Language Technologies, and Innovative ICT for eLearning and Sustainable Development. Proscovia is the Chair of a Doctorial Community and a member of the Information Retrieval research group at the department of Computer Science, Gulu University.

Bio:
Dr. Benard Abola is a lecturer in Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, Gulu University. Highly interested in applications of probability, statistics and machine learning for industries. Furthermore, he has done researched in developing algorithms for analysis of information networks. Currently, a member of Applied Probability Theory of Eastern Africa (APREA) Research Group.

Bio:
She is the Principal Investigator of a project that intelligently recognises aflatoxins in grain. She started her interesting research in machine learning from 2007 while undertaking her PhD studies, where she applied ML/DS within image based retrieval and for the recognition of traffic lights and recognition of everyday common objects from a 20,000 image database.
Prof. Florence studied at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, Makerere University and the University of Dar es salaam in Tanzania..

Bio:
Tabo is currently a lecturer at the Department of Computer Science at Gulu University. He holds a PhD in user-driven innovation, learning and design from Aalborg University, Denmark and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Makerere University, Uganda. His research activities currently cover digital learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education. In collaboration with CanopyLAB we are researching on AI as a supporting tool in higher education. We are currently evaluating effectiveness of a recommender system module integrated on the learning platform with teachers and students at Gulu University.

Bio:
Bruno Kayiza is a Snr. Project Manager at Samasource Uganda in Gulu vested in the generation of training data, managing the delivery of a secure alternative to traditional crowdsourced data annotation models by combining industry-leading software with a trained, directly managed workforce. Passionate about training data, he has supported its generation making use of image, video and sensor data annotation for computer vision and natural language processing in industries including automotive, navigation, AR/VR, biotech, agriculture, manufacturing, and e-commerce.

Bio:
A graduate of Bachelor of Computer Engineering, John is currently Information Technology (IT) Officer at Arua City having previously served as Training Coordinator at Aruabits, a youth based social enterprise of CEFORD that empowers talented youth from vulnerable backgrounds in West Nile, Uganda with multimedia ICT skills, Entrepreneurship and Life Skills.
He is also the Technical Director at Premium Technologies Consultancy (U) Ltd, a registered Company based in Arua that provides ICT solutions aimed at transforming Small and Medium Enterprises in Uganda.
John uses his expertise in graphics design, web design and development, networking, software systems analysis and development to develop user friendly experiences. He is passionate about using data driven evidence for decision making.
When not behind the monitor, John spends most of his time offering service through Rotary Club of Arua Eco City and Community Based Organizations he co-founded; Save the Maracha Girl, Hedwig Education and Health Fund Association, Trusted Friends Savings and Loans Association in which he holds Executive Positions.

Priscilla Adong is a Data scientist at AirQo, Department of Computer Science, Makerere University. She holds an MSc. in Data communications and Software Engineering and BSc. in Computer Science from Makerere University. Priscilla is passionate about using her experience and technical expertise to solve real-world problems. Her research interests include Machine learning, wireless sensor networks and Internet of Things.

Emmanuel is a cofounder of Innov 8 an innovation space in Lira with an acceleratiotor program and focus on education tech,climate and fintech.He has also been cordinating DSA engagements across Universities in Lango,Acholi,Karamoja, Teso,West Nile sub regions and organizing the 1st Regional DSA prelaunch event.

Bio:
Muchwa Christopher Mogal is an intern with Innov 8 hub and a 4 th year Law Student at Uganda Christian University passionate about cyber law.He has developed several apps most notably the Statutebot chat a legal chat bot that extracts relevant provisions of the law required by legal practioners.
